It was about time that the guys from Nokia released Nokia Maps because they’ve been teasing us with it for the better part of a month (before the Lumia devices hit shelves).
The Nokia Maps beta is now available for all Nokia Lumia devices and it’s supposed to help you “find your way in the world” or at least that’s what the commercial says.
With information about public transport, driving, local points of interest and even dinning locations, the Nokia Maps is a great companion for those that like to travel and explore new things.
“Maps provides local walking, driving and public transport directions while highlighting cafes and local points of interests over 3G or Wi-Fi networks. Of course, there’s a social element to Maps allowing you to review and share your location as well. You can also pin your favourite places to the Windows Phone home screen for quick access in the future. Check the video for a quick rundown of Nokia’s Drive and Maps features.”
Although Nokia Maps is still in its beta stage and only available for Lumia devices, we’re actually hoping that all Windows Phones will be able to download it.
Perhaps after it springs out of beta, the guys from Nokia will think about releasing it to the Windows Phone marketplace so that everyone that owns a Windows Phone can benefit from it.
For now, if you’re interested in Nokia Maps you’ll have to grab yourself a Nokia Lumia device (Lumia 800 or Lumia 710) and start messing around with Nokia Maps.
